Finding Freedom

July 28, 2011March 7, 2014 Jo Ann Fore Leave a comment Encouragement for Everyday Life

An abusive, black-hearted father colored my childhood a despondent gray. After suffering years at his hands, I vowed to never trust someone in that position or role of authority again. Until almost seven years ago, when I met my father-in-law, Art Fore. Art, six feet tall, two-hundred and thirty pounds with rich black hair and […]

Writing with Purpose

July 28, 2011January 20, 2014 Jo Ann Fore Leave a comment Write Where It Hurts

by Cherie L. LaLanne Like most young girls, I always kept a diary under lock and key. This passion to write grew in the third grade when I was rewarded with coveted time on Mrs. Taylor’s old Smith-Corona typewriter. Over time, my collection of diaries grew with large gaps of time unrecorded. Periodically, I would […]

by: Susan Miller Most of my life I was extremely self-conscious, painfully shy, and fearful.   As a young child  I said, “I can’t do that.” so much that my parents would read me the story of The Little Engine That Could and have me repeat over and over, “I think I can, I think I […]

What Dreams Are Made Of

July 28, 2011January 20, 2014 Jo Ann Fore Leave a comment Write Where It Hurts

by Cindie Thomas From the age of ten, I used writing as a tool for sharing the pain in my life.  I grew up watching Disney on Sunday nights and believed that “when you wish upon a star, makes no difference who you are. Anything your heart desires will come to you.” But it didn’t. Oh […]

Guest Post by Lisa Buffaloe I begin my day by reading devotions written by bloggers, authors, speakers, and saints who now stand in the presence of the Lord. Their words encourage, uplift, leave me points to ponder and verses to cherish. Words spread across the continents through books, magazines, and newspapers. Approximately 153 million blogs […]

The Great Adverbectomy

July 14, 2011March 11, 2014 Jo Ann Fore 12 Comments So You Think You Can Write, Uncategorized

When I first began writing, my words flowed and dripped onto the paper like sweet honey. Writing was so easy. All I had to do was write a great story, and publishers would clamor to print my work. Who needed to read books on writing, or have writing partners, or attend writing conferences? Me! I […]

Dirt-Digging Writers

July 11, 2011March 11, 2014 Jo Ann Fore 8 Comments So You Think You Can Write

Here in the Pacific Northwest, winter’s cold continues long after my southern friends sweat (ahem, glow profusely) in the sunshine. By the time the snow melted off the mountains, I was itching to plant a garden. I love digging in the dirt. Somehow, God’s beautiful nature breeds healing and restoration. After the soil is prepared, […]

A Writer’s Sea Legs

June 16, 2011March 11, 2014 Jo Ann Fore 9 Comments So You Think You Can Write

“I think we’ve all arrived at a very special place,” said Captain Jack Sparrow. “Spiritually, ecumenically, grammatically.” I didn’t plan on being a writer—did not break forth from the womb with pen and paper in hand. Life took me for a wild ride, dumped me in bed with chronic illness, and a new writing adventure […]

WordSmith

June 7, 2011March 11, 2014 Jo Ann Fore 3 Comments So You Think You Can Write

Blacksmiths were an integral part of colonial America. Every facet of life was touched by this profession—from horseshoes for transportation, weapons and iron gates for protection, and tools and accessories for cooking. According to Webster’s 1828 Dictionary, a Smith is “literally, the striker, the beater; hence, one who forges with the hammer; one who works […]

🌿 3 Quick Ways to Reclaim 30 Minutes TodayDo you ever feel like the clock is running your life instead of you? You’re not alone, friend. Most of us live in a time-starvation spiral — running fast, but still behind. But here’s the truth: you can create margin. Even today. Here are 3 quick ways to free up 30 minutes you didn’t know you had:✨ 1. Batch the errands.Instead of running out three times this week, combine the trips. Gas in the tank, time back in your pocket.✨ 2. Set a “faithful finish line.”Give your chores or email a timer. Tell yourself, “I’ll give this 20 minutes, then it’s done.” You’ll be surprised how much clarity comes when you stop giving everything unlimited access to your energy.✨ 3. Guard 10 minutes with God.Open your Bible app, whisper a prayer while folding laundry, or jot a verse on a sticky note. Those 10 minutes reset the whole day.🕊️ Little shifts create holy margin. And margin creates space for peace, presence, and joy.#unbusymePic Credit: © Yevgeniya131988 | Dreamstime.com ... See MoreSee Less

Grateful doesn’t begin to cover how appreciative Grateful doesn’t begin to cover how appreciative I am for the incredibleness of Lacey Jane.

With a maturity far beyond her years, yesterday she stood by my side and held my shaky hands for a surgery I have dreaded for months.

Surgery of any kind is a difficult ordeal for me, since my body often reacts unpredictably due to underlying health issues making recovery difficult.

But Step by step, prayer by prayer, we have successfully navigated the first 24 hours in a way that promises an effective and uncomplicated recovery! (Incredibly grateful to those who have also carried me with prayer!)

Hey guys — this post is at Lacey’s request. Hey guys — this post is at Lacey’s request.

Because I have always used social media as a mixture of work and personal life, a lot of you don’t personally know Lacey, but ironically many of you have prayed for her over the years. So she has a special request today for all of us:

Will you please pray for my dad, Luke? He has recently been (shockingly) diagnosed with Lukemia and is in the hospital for treatment. My dad is brave and knows God. He is a warrior but he also needs people praying for him! Also if you will please pray for his family there and his family here. Thank you very much. ❤️

I will say she landed on the opposite scale of dress style she had planned on. But it spoke to her and she looks beautiful. Pictures to come (after the prom 🤪).

It took me many years to realize how healthy, last It took me many years to realize how healthy, lasting growth works its way out from the inside.

If you've hit a wall, stop.

That's right, go ahead and stop right there. Find out what it takes for you to breathe in a healthy manner. And then, you begin again.

Maybe you take the same route but with more gear for the trip. Maybe you take a detour completely. But the most important thing is that you choose to begin again.
