Column Post by Kelly Heuer When peace, like a river, attendeth my way, when sorrows like sea billows roll; whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say, It is well, it is well with my soul. The man who wrote this had just lost everything. In the span of two years, his only son […]
Write Where It Hurts
God has used writing in my life in a powerful way. As a word-lover, an author, I’ve learned this, how sometimes we write for publication, yes, but how sometimes we write simply to reconcile. To uncover truths and connect dots in ways that sometimes aren’t possible until we sit quiet with the pressing questions.
Today, I’m passionate about writing as a healing tool. You’ll find Write Where It Hurts a connection point, an invitation to women and conversations that bring healing. We need that, don’t we? A place where can we can drop all the masks and cut through the hard stuff.
Come join us. In our online community here, you’ll find hope, encouragement, and practical tools along with a challenge to live intentionally. Pull up a chair. Grab a spot of tea, or your favorite java. Be encouraged and inspired as you connect with other brave-hearted women who have faced unfathomable trials with courage. Risk the writing challenges, and be rewarded with a fresh perspective of your own.
In Search of a Dad
Column Post by Glenda Harbinson School plays, piano recitals, band concerts. From little girl to teenager, these were my moments in the spotlight, my time to shine. Every girl big or small wants her daddy there watching, cheering her on, pride glowing as his eyes follow her every move. I was no different. My heart […]
You Raised Me Up
Column Post by Lisa Easterling I was raised with boundaries, and if in my childish folly I challenged them, the rod of correction drove it far from me. Who knew the writers of the Bible could be so spot-on? I was taught that respect was given before it was earned, and that politeness is never […]
Fathers and Daughters
Column Post by Laura Hyers I won’t begin to pretend I can understand a father’s love for his daughter. There are lots of things that get in the way of this (probably the first and largest being that I’m a woman), but I know as well as anyone a daughter’s love for her father. My […]
Her Giving Tree
Column Post by Lakin Easterling A tiny giggle, a roar, stomping feet, giggles louder. These sounds, they make me smile, because I know where they originate. I know their faces and their love. They are my family, a father and daughter, the blessed pieces of God-mirror, reflecting His attentive face. I peer around the corner, […]
Papa
Column Post by Kelly Heuer Papa has got to be on at least the Top 10 World’s Greatest Dads list. I think he deserves to be on the Top 1 list, but then I’m a bit biased. How can I not be? We Monkee-walked through the grocery store regardless of my mother’s threats to […]
Discouragement Busters
Column Post by Rita Schulte Have you ever wondered why you get so upset when things don’t go as you painstakingly plan? You may be thinking that’s a stupid question; after all, it’s normal to be upset when things don’t turn out like we want them to—end of story. But is it? It’s true that […]
Daddy’s Heart
Column Post by Lisa Easterling I’ve spent most of my life fatherless. My parents divorced when I was two, and my early childhood became a fractured maze of being stolen by one from the other, then back again. For two years my mother thought I was dead, ironic in light of the car accident during that […]
Freedom to Forgive
Guest Post by Dana Arcuri {Continued from yesterday’s Search for Significance} With tears flowing, I accepted Jesus into my heart and soul. Excited about my new relationship with my Savior, I jumped feet-first into my new faith. When the opportunity arose to attend a church women’s retreat, I grabbed the chance. This was to be […]
Search for Significance
Guest Post by Dana Arcuri Father’s Day hasn’t always been a day for celebrating my dad. For many years it was a heartbreaking reminder of a lifetime filled with disappointment, disillusionment, and pain. After my father’s adulterous affair, my parents divorced. At two years of age, I was the youngest of five girls and completely […]
