Guest Post by Nicole White Growing up I liked to watch “The Six Million Dollar Man”. My favorite episodes were the ones with Bigfoot, who was scary and mysterious at the same time. You never saw him until the end of the episode, so I’d sit through the boring dialogue waiting for little glimpses of […]
Write Where It Hurts
God has used writing in my life in a powerful way. As a word-lover, an author, I’ve learned this, how sometimes we write for publication, yes, but how sometimes we write simply to reconcile. To uncover truths and connect dots in ways that sometimes aren’t possible until we sit quiet with the pressing questions.
Today, I’m passionate about writing as a healing tool. You’ll find Write Where It Hurts a connection point, an invitation to women and conversations that bring healing. We need that, don’t we? A place where can we can drop all the masks and cut through the hard stuff.
Come join us. In our online community here, you’ll find hope, encouragement, and practical tools along with a challenge to live intentionally. Pull up a chair. Grab a spot of tea, or your favorite java. Be encouraged and inspired as you connect with other brave-hearted women who have faced unfathomable trials with courage. Risk the writing challenges, and be rewarded with a fresh perspective of your own.
What would you do if you weren’t afraid to try?
Column Post by Laura Hyers Weekends go by way too quickly at my house. There’s friends and family and chores and church and before you know it, its Sunday night and I’m looking at another long week stretched ahead of me and wondering where all my time went. You know what I realized this weekend? […]
Why we should all be climbing buddies
Column Post by Lakin Easterling I’m a fairly optimistic person. I don’t always have happy days and I’m not always laughing or smiling, but for the most part in my life I tend to look toward the bright and good side of situations. Some people may think optimism is the denial of uncomfortable things or […]
The day God cut self injury out of my life
Column Post by Glenda Harbinson The pain ran so deep I didn’t know where it started and couldn’t see an end. I tried to run from it, ignored it, prayed God would take it away. I donned masks in public, not wanting everyone to see the pain in my eyes and know my soul was […]
When God breaks our hearts for a purpose greater than us
Column Post by Aj Luck My Keurig had just finished brewing up a perfect cup of coffee. I sat down at my computer and tried to write. My thoughts were scattered and any inspiration seemed fleeting. Gently, my mind began drifting towards an image all too familiar. Silence surrounded me. Slowly tears escaped from my eyes […]
I’m having an affair with my best friend and it’s my husband’s fault
Column Post by Lisa Easterling This is my confession: I’m having an affair with my best friend. The truth is, it’s a pretty deep relationship we’ve been building for several years now, and we spent this past weekend celebrating it. You have to understand why I would be so deeply involved with him. He isn’t […]
If your online profile revealed the real you
Column Post by Laura Hyers In this technological age of tweets and posts and status updates and Tumblogs, and my season of young adulthood full of job applications and mission statements, there’s something nearly everyone wants from me, or you: “Tell us about yourself.” What is it that makes you you? Or me me? What […]
When You Learn Your Joy is Good
Column Post by Lakin Easterling “Um, don’t hate me, but I did a bad thing.” This is a sentence I frequently speak to my husband, and it always evokes a grin and a chuckle at my use of the word “bad”. See, I’m a bookworm. Always have been, and for the foreseeable future, always will […]
When withdrawal doesn’t get the final word
Column Post by Glenda Harbinson Lately I’ve felt God leading me to discontinue a specific medication I’ve been taking for some time now. I come from a long line of depressed women and have the diagnosis of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). For a while I used this medication according to the season, but when switching […]
How Hope Taught Me to Shine
Guest Post by Friday Child When I was a wee one, my mother always cuddled me and told me that I was her Friday Child—loving and giving. She impressed upon me this was an asset that would make my life maybe not easier, but happier. “Everyone shines in his/her way,” she would tell me. “Look […]
