Column Post by Laura Hyers The funny thing I’ve realized in the past few weeks is that once I start writing about a subject, I take it upon myself to be the champion of that whole topic, a glowing example of the power of (insert theme here). I really do take it upon myself, too. […]
Write Where It Hurts
God has used writing in my life in a powerful way. As a word-lover, an author, I’ve learned this, how sometimes we write for publication, yes, but how sometimes we write simply to reconcile. To uncover truths and connect dots in ways that sometimes aren’t possible until we sit quiet with the pressing questions.
Today, I’m passionate about writing as a healing tool. You’ll find Write Where It Hurts a connection point, an invitation to women and conversations that bring healing. We need that, don’t we? A place where can we can drop all the masks and cut through the hard stuff.
Come join us. In our online community here, you’ll find hope, encouragement, and practical tools along with a challenge to live intentionally. Pull up a chair. Grab a spot of tea, or your favorite java. Be encouraged and inspired as you connect with other brave-hearted women who have faced unfathomable trials with courage. Risk the writing challenges, and be rewarded with a fresh perspective of your own.
On Fellowship and the Dangerous Road
Column Post by Lakin Easterling “There is a seed of courage hidden (often deeply, it is true) in the heart of the fattest and most timid hobbit, waiting for some final and desperate danger to make it grow.” ~ The Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring {Chapter Fog on the Barrow-Downs} Few stories […]
Broken Promise
Column Post by Kelly Heuer My son broke a promise to me. He has no remorse for having done so and rubs it in my face every day. In fact, he’s doing so right now. It hurts my heart that he made the decision to go back on his word and just thinking about it […]
Miracle Baby
Guest Post by Dana Arcuri It was spring 1998 and I was in the second trimester of my third pregnancy. All went according to plan, until the sixth month when my baby’s abnormal movements alarmed me. During a prenatal exam, I discussed my concern with my midwife. She immediately scheduled an ultrasound test and referred me to […]
Little Girl Lost
Column Post by Lisa Easterling My mother was my compass. She weathered a hard childhood followed by a hard life and yet she never stopped pushing on. Because of her, I have never known the meaning of quit. Every Mother’s Day my focus was on telling—and more importantly, showing—my mother how much she meant to […]
Unmothered Daughters
Guest Post by Susan Tolles It was last year when I heard the term “unmothered daughters” for the first time. It made me shiver and brought a flood of memories about my own mother and the volatile relationship we’d had. Adopted as an infant, I never connected with my adoptive mother. I had a great childhood […]
Thanks, Mom
Column Post by Laura Hyers I’m not a mother—yet. Some days I feel like a mother, chasing around children who aren’t mine for nine hours a day, changing diapers and potty training and disciplining and celebrating and laughing and hugging and wiping noses and kissing booboos. But at the end of the day I give […]

Awake My Soul
Column Post by Lakin Easterling “He dressed in Righteousness, put it on like a suit of armor…and threw a cloak of Passion across his shoulders… ‘As for me,’ God says, ‘this is my covenant with them: My Spirit that I’ve placed upon you and the words that I’ve given you to speak, they’re not going […]
Walk This Way
Column Post by Kelly Heuer I once heard, in all earnestness, a sermon on how we are to walk, talk, look, and smell like Christians. What? Yep. Apparently there is a Christian dress code, a Christian dialect, a Christian gait, a Christian style, and yes, a Christian perfume/cologne. I have no doubt that all are […]
