Guest post by Kate Powers Recently I was asked how I use my faith to stay grounded. My first response was “I don’t know, it’s just how I do things.” But I realize this answer is useless to the asker so I have spent days on an inner quest to recreate my process. I have […]
Write Where It Hurts
God has used writing in my life in a powerful way. As a word-lover, an author, I’ve learned this, how sometimes we write for publication, yes, but how sometimes we write simply to reconcile. To uncover truths and connect dots in ways that sometimes aren’t possible until we sit quiet with the pressing questions.
Today, I’m passionate about writing as a healing tool. You’ll find Write Where It Hurts a connection point, an invitation to women and conversations that bring healing. We need that, don’t we? A place where can we can drop all the masks and cut through the hard stuff.
Come join us. In our online community here, you’ll find hope, encouragement, and practical tools along with a challenge to live intentionally. Pull up a chair. Grab a spot of tea, or your favorite java. Be encouraged and inspired as you connect with other brave-hearted women who have faced unfathomable trials with courage. Risk the writing challenges, and be rewarded with a fresh perspective of your own.
Do You Know the Pancake Man?
Guest post by Kelly Heuer Spring is in the air. It’s warm enough outside that my hoodie is more than enough insulation. Flowers aren’t yet blooming, but the plants to which they are attached are turning green. Parts of the lawn are stretching out and turning a lovely shade of not-brown-any-more. Birds are flitting wildly […]
How to Become a Noticer
Guest post by Rita Schulte The spiritual disciplines of silence and solitude provide a great place to learn to become a noticer. I call noticing an art because just like any other art, it takes deliberate and intentional practice. The key to entering into silence and solitude begins with a willingness to abandon all distractions. […]
Along This Path
How are you feeling about the path you’re walking? Are you walking quickly, trying to reach the end, or slowly and watchfully, taking it all in? What are your thoughts about where this path will lead? Are you fearful or excited about your destination?
Simple Beauty
What beauty might you be overlooking in your world today? What might you see if you look more closely, more carefully, more observantly? What might your senses catch, if you employ them all at once?
His Heart
Guest post by Lisa Easterling One of the most difficult things I’ve had to do as a mother is watch my children agonize over the wait for the arrival of true love. It didn’t really help to tell them to hang in there, have faith, that God had the perfect person just for each of […]
The End of the Beginning
Guest post by Shea Clarke “Child abuse casts a shadow the length of a lifetime.” Herbert Ward When I think back over my childhood, I try hard to find something I can hold onto as a cherished good memory—something that can share with my own children about who their mother was. But there is not […]
Snow
What is your experience with snow? Do you have childhood memories associated with snow? Describe how frostbite feels, or how you imagine it would feel. Do you remember your favorite winter outfit? Is there a poem about snow needing to be written?
Luck’s got nothing to do with it
Guest post by Kate Powers Some people call it luck. Others say “You are blessed”. I used to believe I had bad luck–or at least I knew I didn’t have good luck. It seemed Murphy’s Law ruled my life and if something could go wrong, or even if it couldn’t, it did. I struggled through […]
Bug’s World
Guest post by Kelly Heuer What would say if I told you I saw a yellow dinosaur? How about if I told you that my cat talks to me? What if I were to announce that I am a ninja? Or, better yet, I am an acrobat from space in disguise and here on Earth […]
