The Necessity of Brokenness

September 5, 2013March 7, 2014 Rita Schulte 1 Comment Uncategorized, Write Where It Hurts

Suffering and sorrow are inevitable parts of life. Loved ones die. Dreams crumble. We lose things that were once important to us. The happily-ever-after life we dreamed of is often a far cry from the reality we live. How we respond to loss and change determines what happens to our hearts. It also determines if […]

Ragged Hope, an Interview with Cynthia Ruchti

August 29, 2013March 7, 2014 Jo Ann Fore 1 Comment Uncategorized

Where is God when you are doing everything right yet, because of someone else’s actions, everything is wrong? Where do we find hope when it’s clouded by the ashes of other people’s choices? It’s one thing to live with the consequences of your own actions. It’s quite another to live with the outcome of someone […]

When your voice seems pale in comparison

August 26, 2013March 7, 2014 Jo Ann Fore 22 Comments Write Where It Hurts

They are ever so lovely, those voices crooning from behind microphones, bellowing from bodies wrapped in spandex and sequins and sometimes very little at all. Their words are music and their presence seems to grip the hearts of hearers with an ease that makes you cringe when you think of how small your voice sounds […]

When you shoulder the megaphone and a million fears

August 22, 2013March 7, 2014 Jo Ann Fore 10 Comments Write Where It Hurts

Most of us as women understand, at least on some level, that we have an obligation to speak out and use our voices. To tell, to encourage, to instruct, to correct, to announce, to plead, to bless. This is not news to most of us, especially if we’ve been led in any way by women […]

Do You Love Your Spouse {No Matter What?}

August 19, 2013March 7, 2014 Jo Ann Fore 3 Comments Write Where It Hurts

My sweet mother-in-law once inscribed a card with the sentiment, “You two are proof that some marriages really are made in heaven.” And while on certain days I would agree with her, on others . . . well, let’s just say that we’ve had disagreements that were not at all angelic. Those fairy tales I grew up […]

Girl-to-girl here? There are those days when I wonder if it hurts more to push through or to watch another night fall. I’m in a unique season. A season of helping one precious to me while my own desires and dreams suspend mid-air. Days of rising {way} too early, cleaning behind little ears, and finding […]

How to Get Back Up Again

August 8, 2013March 7, 2014 Jo Ann Fore 2 Comments Write Where It Hurts

Did you know it is possible to survive a freefall from the Willis Tower in Chicago or a skydive with a failed parachute? It will hurt, and it will take some time to heal, but it is possible. Our lives can be a lot like that freefall, but we can survive whatever challenges God puts […]

Healing Our Wounds by Stepping into Our Scars

August 5, 2013March 7, 2014 Jo Ann Fore 10 Comments Write Where It Hurts

Life leaves scars—we all have our stories. But scars shouldn’t hurt, shouldn’t be a fresh pain. Properly healed scars are closed, insensitive to touch. A faint reminder of something that once was. I have places on my body from bike wrecks, surgeries, and maybe even a dog bite, but those wounds are healed, closed off […]

🌿 3 Quick Ways to Reclaim 30 Minutes TodayDo you ever feel like the clock is running your life instead of you? You’re not alone, friend. Most of us live in a time-starvation spiral — running fast, but still behind. But here’s the truth: you can create margin. Even today. Here are 3 quick ways to free up 30 minutes you didn’t know you had:✨ 1. Batch the errands.Instead of running out three times this week, combine the trips. Gas in the tank, time back in your pocket.✨ 2. Set a “faithful finish line.”Give your chores or email a timer. Tell yourself, “I’ll give this 20 minutes, then it’s done.” You’ll be surprised how much clarity comes when you stop giving everything unlimited access to your energy.✨ 3. Guard 10 minutes with God.Open your Bible app, whisper a prayer while folding laundry, or jot a verse on a sticky note. Those 10 minutes reset the whole day.🕊️ Little shifts create holy margin. And margin creates space for peace, presence, and joy.#unbusymePic Credit: © Yevgeniya131988 | Dreamstime.com ... See MoreSee Less

I will say she landed on the opposite scale of dress style she had planned on. But it spoke to her and she looks beautiful. Pictures to come (after the prom 🤪).

If you've hit a wall, stop.

That's right, go ahead and stop right there. Find out what it takes for you to breathe in a healthy manner. And then, you begin again.

Maybe you take the same route but with more gear for the trip. Maybe you take a detour completely. But the most important thing is that you choose to begin again.
