How God Beautifies the Ugly Spoken Over Your Life

July 2, 2012January 20, 2014 Jo Ann Fore 1 Comment Write Where It Hurts

Column Post by Lisa Easterling She told me I suck at friendship. And she meant it. While most of me had the strength to reject the indictment as mean-spirited and untrue, a poisoned barb was left behind. I’ve been prayerfully thinking about this damaging prophesy over my life. My general philosophy is to take criticism […]

Filling the Empties of a Fatherless Daughter

June 30, 2012January 20, 2014 Jo Ann Fore 2 Comments Write Where It Hurts

Guest Post by Ricci Neer It seemed each year was more difficult than the last. She thought for sure that this would get easier. Growing up without a father didn’t seem like that big of a deal. For a little girl unaware, it just was. She can’t remember anyone asking much about her father or […]

If God Is Prepared, Why Am I Scared?

June 29, 2012January 20, 2014 Jo Ann Fore Leave a comment Write Where It Hurts

Column Post by Laura Hyers I feel like I get my best writing material from my pastor. Kind of. I mean, he’s really smart, and funny, and he makes being the Church seem possible, and when my heart is floundering and my investment is seeming less and less worthwhile, his words remind me why I’m […]

How Forgiveness Blooms into Shameless Love

June 28, 2012January 20, 2014 Jo Ann Fore 1 Comment Write Where It Hurts

Column Post by Lakin Easterling Everyone has much to say about forgiveness. What actually counts as forgiveness, what qualifies someone for forgiveness, how many times and how often you should bestow forgiveness (which is usually a smaller number than how many times forgiveness should be bestowed on YOU). It’s such a minefield, that one little […]

What I Gained from Losing My Legs

June 27, 2012January 20, 2014 Jo Ann Fore Leave a comment Write Where It Hurts

Column Post by Glenda Harbinson It was a late July evening, the house quiet as I sat texting with a friend. My husband and children were sleeping. I was loathe to leave both the calm and the friendly conversation, so it was late when I pulled myself out of my chair to get ready for […]

What If I Stumble

June 25, 2012January 20, 2014 Jo Ann Fore 2 Comments Write Where It Hurts

Guest Post by Nicole White I stumbled recently. Instead of paying attention to where I was going I was thinking of a million other things than where my feet were and stepped half off a driveway, and down I went. A single curse word escaped as I landed on hands and knees, palms scraped, one knee […]

Brush Strokes

June 25, 2012January 20, 2014 Jo Ann Fore 4 Comments Write Where It Hurts

Column Post by Lisa Easterling I created my first painting today. A friend invited my daughter and me to a painting party and it seemed like too much fun to pass up. I have a hard time doing anything for myself, especially if there’s a cost involved, but my friend talked me into coming and […]

My Father’s Legacy of Love

June 23, 2012January 20, 2014 Jo Ann Fore Leave a comment Write Where It Hurts

Guest Post by Cindie Thomas Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about what kind of legacy I want to leave behind for my children and grandchildren. I think of my cad who left us all a wonderful legacy by the way he lived his life. Dad worked in a cotton mill as a weaver most of […]

The Anxiety Cycle

June 22, 2012January 20, 2014 Jo Ann Fore Leave a comment Write Where It Hurts

Column Post by Laura Hyers I am a firm believer that oldest siblings should get a life bonus for the amount of anxiety and pain we go through concerning the little ones who come after us on the family tree. I have two sisters—one who is a year and a half younger than me and […]

June 21, 2012January 20, 2014 Jo Ann Fore Leave a comment Write Where It Hurts

Column Post by Lakin Easterling “You can think up some birds, that’s what you can do. You can think about yellow, you can think about blue…” So begins my favorite Dr. Seuss book in the history of ever, Oh, the Thinks You Can Think! My mother bought it for me several years ago, when I was a […]

I used to think pushing through exhaustion meant I was strong. So I kept going—until I had nothing left to give and wanted to walk away from some things I still loved. That’s when I learned the hard way what Michelle Bengtson shared in a recent post: Sometimes we don’t need to quit. We need to rest. Some days, I’m still learning to take a break without calling it a failure. Have you ever had to learn that lesson, too?#unbusyme#restoration ... See MoreSee Less

Grateful doesn’t begin to cover how appreciative Grateful doesn’t begin to cover how appreciative I am for the incredibleness of Lacey Jane.

With a maturity far beyond her years, yesterday she stood by my side and held my shaky hands for a surgery I have dreaded for months.

Surgery of any kind is a difficult ordeal for me, since my body often reacts unpredictably due to underlying health issues making recovery difficult.

But Step by step, prayer by prayer, we have successfully navigated the first 24 hours in a way that promises an effective and uncomplicated recovery! (Incredibly grateful to those who have also carried me with prayer!)

Hey guys — this post is at Lacey’s request. Hey guys — this post is at Lacey’s request.

Because I have always used social media as a mixture of work and personal life, a lot of you don’t personally know Lacey, but ironically many of you have prayed for her over the years. So she has a special request today for all of us:

Will you please pray for my dad, Luke? He has recently been (shockingly) diagnosed with Lukemia and is in the hospital for treatment. My dad is brave and knows God. He is a warrior but he also needs people praying for him! Also if you will please pray for his family there and his family here. Thank you very much. ❤️

I will say she landed on the opposite scale of dress style she had planned on. But it spoke to her and she looks beautiful. Pictures to come (after the prom 🤪).
