Column Post by Lisa Easterling I heard the ugliness leap out of my own mouth, pulled up just shy of the stove and listened to the words echoing back at me, reverberating off the Tuscan-painted tiles on the backsplash. “Lisa, you are so stupid!” I didn’t even flinch. I wasn’t surprised by it, partly because […]
Write Where It Hurts
God has used writing in my life in a powerful way. As a word-lover, an author, I’ve learned this, how sometimes we write for publication, yes, but how sometimes we write simply to reconcile. To uncover truths and connect dots in ways that sometimes aren’t possible until we sit quiet with the pressing questions.
Today, I’m passionate about writing as a healing tool. You’ll find Write Where It Hurts a connection point, an invitation to women and conversations that bring healing. We need that, don’t we? A place where can we can drop all the masks and cut through the hard stuff.
Come join us. In our online community here, you’ll find hope, encouragement, and practical tools along with a challenge to live intentionally. Pull up a chair. Grab a spot of tea, or your favorite java. Be encouraged and inspired as you connect with other brave-hearted women who have faced unfathomable trials with courage. Risk the writing challenges, and be rewarded with a fresh perspective of your own.
When your heart breaks for the least of these
Guest Post by Elizabeth Buhrke I’m trying to assimilate back into my life but I’m having a hard time. I’ve always had a heart for the poor, but God is stirring me in a way I could never have imagined. I never dreamed of being a mom, but when Isaiah came into my life God […]
What a Teacher Can Learn from Tiny Students
Column Post by Laura Hyers I am a preschool teacher. I hang out with two-year-olds for forty hours a week and I change diapers and wipe noses and discipline and teach and celebrate and snuggle and chase and I try more than anything to love. But dang, some days it is hard to love. Hard […]
On the Occasion that You Find Yourself with Undrinkable Tea
Column Post by Lakin Easterling Somehow, drinking hot tea has a way of clearing my head. The heat is a flavor all its own, accompanied by the taste of dried leaves, sweet wildflower honey, and the silky texture of almond milk. It’s an experience: the steam, my hands around the mug, all the greatness of […]
When You’re Tempted to Settle for Rotten Miracles
Column Post by Glenda Harbinson Miracle Max is one of my favorite characters from The Princess Bride. I love the scene where his wife repeats the name Humperdink at him while he covers his ears and tries not to hear. We reverse that here and playfully use “humperdink” as the word to communicate that we […]
Don’t be afraid to show your ugly
Column Post by Aj Luck During a recent conversation with a friend, the topic of being vulnerable came up. We started talking about the areas of our lives where we let people in, and the areas where we keep people out. I opened up about hating the feeling of rejection. She asked me what I meant. I […]
Four Keys to a Happier Life
Column Post by Lisa Easterling Who doesn’t want a happier life? What you might not realize is how easy it can be to move toward that happier life right now by employing a few simple keys. Key 1: Simplify, Simplify Let’s face it: we all live cluttered, chaotic lives. It’s hard not to, in such […]
When You Must Forgive the Unforgivable
Guest Post by Dana Arcuri It was the summer of 1966. Heartbroken, my newly divorced mother relocated to escape humiliation and gossip. Her plan was to raise five young daughters on her own. How she was to successfully accomplish that plan was a heavy burden filled with uncertainty. Desperate to make ends meet, Mom obtained work […]
What Forgiveness Might Really Look Like
Column Post by Laura Hyers “Everyone thinks forgiveness is a lovely idea until he has something to forgive.” C. S. Lewis Isn’t forgiveness so much more fun to talk about than to actually partake in? Not to mention that it’s always way better to be on the receiving end of forgiveness than the giving end. […]
When Catch and Release Goes Wrong
Column Post by Lakin Easterling Do you want to know a secret? It’s part of every woman, more so than men: it’s the power of a grudge. Perhaps it first became us when Adam shifted all the blame on Eve; maybe that’s the first taste we had of bitterness, a deep cut betrayal when we thought […]
